Teamware Office to Microsoft Exchange Migration

Teamware Exchange Migration

For organizations planning to migrate from Teamware Office to Microsoft Exchange I developed an application which can migrate the following:

  • Directory users and groups
  • Personal addressbooks
  • Mailboxes and mailboxes permissions
  • Calendars and calendars permissions

The migration process is very straight-forward. You begin by exporting a couple of dump files from Teamware (users, groups, permissions etc.), load them into the tool, group the users in batches as desired and then migrate the data.

Of course, there are quite a few settings which allow you to control in fine detail what and how is migrated. For an in-depth view of the migration process, please feel free to fetch a copy of the User's Guide.

The tool imports the data directly into Microsoft Exchange, without needing intermediary Outlook PST files. The data can be imported either from your production Teamware Office server or, if you want to minimize the impact, from a copy of it. You can let the tool create the user accounts in Active Directory or you can use the tool to associate Teamware accounts with existing Exchange mailboxes.

So far I was involved in two major migration projects. First one was at Rijndam Revalidatiecentrum in Netherlands - a single-site system with about 700 users. The second project is at the General Secretariat of the EU Council in Belgium and it is handling the migration of a more complex multi-site system with some 5,000 users.

The application is developed in C#/.Net. It uses Teamware Link for intefacing with Teamware Office and a combination of WebDav and CDOEX for interfacing with Microsoft Exchange.

If you are interested, I can provide a copy of the migration tool. To do a trial you will need a test environment with an Exchange server and a copy of your Teamware Office server. The test is free of charge and free of obligations.
